DeleteFromPOP3

Welcome

Many people use POP3 mail accounts. The intended usage is to transfer all messages to a client application and immediately delete all messages from the server. However there is a possibility to leave messages on the server after downloading them. This way a user can still access the messages on the server, e.g. using web interface. But the number of messages on the server grow quickly and it is necessary delete unwanted messages.

Some e-mail clients (like Thunderbird) offer a function to delete messages from the server when deleting it locally (moving to trash). Others, like Evolution and KMail, lack this option. They only can delete messages older than given amount of time or leave only the given number of latest messages. DeleteFromPOP3 was developed as a simplest possible workaround for these clients. It allows the user to select messages to delete within a mail client, while leaving the task of deleting them to the external program.

The solution it offers is not intended to be permanent, but since the time of implementation of the requested feature in KMail is unknown, it can serve as a workaround for a while.
